Dinner to Combat Hunger

April 7, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$8 – $320

The Honey Brook Food Pantry (HBFP) announces its Dinner to Combat Hunger on April 7 from 6:30-9:30 pm at the Forks of the Brandywine EPC.  This year’s event promises to be an entertaining and informative evening.  We’ll learn more about the impact of hunger from guest speaker Steveanna Wynn and gain the perspective of some who personally experience our program.

Last year’s dinner was a near sell-out and tickets can now be reserved online at  RSVP deadline is March 1.  Proceeds help to provide the critical financial support necessary to stock the HBFP shelves with quality food and stimulate food independence.

About the guest speaker:  Steveanna Wynn is recognized as a passionate and powerful advocate for food justice, and was named the Philadelphia Inquirer’s “2012 Citizen of the Year.” The Inquirer Editorial Board chose Ms. Wynn for this prestigious award based on “more than 20 years of commitment and dedication” to ending hunger. Ms. Wynn has been Share’s Executive Director since 1989. She serves on the Board of Directors of Hunger Free Pennsylvania and Nutritional Development Services, is past-president of the PA Association of Regional Food Banks, and chairs the PA Department of Agriculture Food Advisory Committee. In Philadelphia she leads the Anti-Hunger Subcommittee of the Food Policy Advisory Committee. Ms. Wynn has won numerous other awards include the MANNA Nourish Award,  Schweitzer Leadership Award from Thomas Jefferson University and the Hunger Fighter Award from the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger.
