Warning: Phone Scam Targeting PP&L Customers

The Pennsylvania State Police have issued a bulletin warning PP&L customers about a sophisticated phone scam in which callers tell customers their power will be shut off unless immediate payment is made.  The calls appear to originate from an 855 or 844 area code, and in some cases, indicate the call is coming from PP&L on caller ID.

PP&L reminds its residential & small business customers that the only number they should call to discuss their account is 1-800-DIAL-PPL (1-800-342-5775).  Customers should also report scam attempts to that number as well as to the Embreeville barracks of the State Police, at 610-486-6280.  Click here to read the full announcement.
